As Director of College Counseling, Phil Hooper calls upon a combined
21 years of experience in college guidance work, nine in college admissions, and twelve as a secondary school college counselor. A native of Little
Rock, Phil first started in college admissions at his alma mater,
Hendrix College, soon after his graduation from there in 1981. He
later joined the admissions staff at Rhodes College in Memphis,
serving as the Assistant Director of Admissions. In 1990 he became
the Director of College Advising at Harpeth Hall in Nashville, Tennessee,
where he also spent time working toward a master's degree at Vanderbilt
University. After eight years at Harpeth Hall, Phil took the job
as Director of Admissions at Transylvania University in Lexington,
Kentucky. In 1999 Phil was invited to take the Director of College
Counseling position at Hutchison School in Memphis, Tennessee, where
he served for three years before taking his current position here
at Episcopal Collegiate.

Over his 21 years in the field, Phil has amassed visits to over
200 colleges and universities around the country. Moreover, he has
developed over time a strong working relationship with many admissions
deans and directors, as well as scores of other admissions officers,
at numerous institutions of interest to Episcopal Collegiate students
and their parents.
