Championships

Since 2003, Episcopal Collegiate has earned fourty-two state championships in boys basketball, girls tennis, girls volleyball, boys track and field, boys tennis, and boys golf. No other school in that time span, or any other sixteen year period, in the history of Arkansas can claim more state championships than Episcopal Collegiate. The current run of eleven consecutive girls tennis state titles is also unparalleled in state history, as well. Boys basketball earned its first title in 2014, followed by championship runs in 2015 and 2017, while the boys track and field took home its first state title in 2013. In addition to the thirty-seven state championships, the Wildcats have also earned a slew of conference, district, and regional titles in their short history.

Facilities

The Jackson T. Stephens Campus features two fully functional gymnasiums, a zoysia-surfaced multipurpose outdoor stadium, and a well-stocked weight room and fitness center. The gyms are home to the always-competitive volleyball and basketball teams, and also feature twelve basketball goals, one drop-down baseball/softball cage, and room for four volleyball courts. The spacious and beautifully set Wildcat Stadium is home to the football and soccer teams and are routinely labeled by visitors as one of the finest places to play a game in the entire state. The fitness center and weight room, headed by the Strength and Conditioning Program Director, allows all athletes to train and condition for their sport. In the near future, the present practice facility will give way to a full-size, meet-ready graphic composite track, complete with a full length artificial surface field in the interior.

Strength and Conditioning

Episcopal Collegiate has a full-time strength and conditioning program director, Tyrell Johnson. Coach Johnson, a former Arkansas State University and NFL standout, works with all Wildcat athletes on sport-specific training methods. Wildcat players prepare for their seasons in the Wildcat Fitness Center and Weight Room, which features multiple power racks, free weights, and over a dozen weight and cardio machines.

Teams

Fielding sixteen varsity sports teams, eighteen junior high and middle school sports teams, and sixteen youth sports teams, the school has an active and competitive student body. More than eighty percent of upper school students participate in varsity or junior varsity athletics and more than eighty five percent of middle school students participate in middle school athletics. The athletic program is growing, too adding new club sports, including lacrosse.

Coaches

The school boasts a coaching staff rich with experience, enthusiasm, expertise, and an unrivaled level of care for the well-being of Wildcat athletes. Episcopal Collegiate coaches draw from their own professional playing or coaching experiences elsewhere, including from the NFL, the NCAA, and surrounding states. Wildcat coaches have won state championships in other states and competed as coaches and players on a national stage. From a former Wildcat athlete: "Everywhere I've gone, I still haven't had a coach care about me like my coaches at Episcopal."

Wildcats at the Next Level

Since 2003, Episcopal Collegiate has sent more than twenty of its athletes to play sports at the college level. Wildcats have represented or are currently representing Episcopal in NAIA, junior college in NJCAA, and in Division I, II, and III in the NCAA. To date, all Wildcats that completed their college athletic careers have earned some type of honors from their university or college, either for their standout play or for their academics. Some have been named multiple-time All-American, most have earned All-Conference status at least once, and all have been proud to represent Episcopal. From the golf courses and tennis courts to the gridiron and the basketball arenas, Episcopal athletes have represented the school with honor.

    Athletics Philosophy

At Episcopal Collegiate, athletics are an integral part of our broader educational initiatives. Athletes have a range of activities in which to participate and explore how to discover their promise, beginning in the third grade and ending with championship-level competitive varsity sports such as basketball, tennis, and football. The school understands the significant role athletics can play in helping students perpetually seek and maintain our guiding principles and mission.
