Avery '24 Wins Book Award from the National Junior Classical League
Congratulations to eighth grader, Avery Turner, on winning $250 Book Award from the National Junior Classical League. Avery won this award after volunteering to take three optional national exams and write an essay last year. The exams she took were: National Classical Etymology Exam, National Latin Vocabulary Exam, and the National Roman Civilization Exam. She scored two gold medals and one silver medal on these exams, which made her eligible for the award. She then wrote an essay response to the question “How does an acquaintance with the Classical World help us understand the global community created by the internet?”
Nationally, for students in grades 8 and below, only three are selected as recipients for the $250 Book Awards. Avery was also our first student to ever be eligible (you must have two gold medals) and our first student to win one of these awards. Avery is also the second student in Episcopal history to have a perfect score on the Latin I level of the National Latin Exam.

Way to go, Avery!
