Virtual Guest Speaker: Christian Braunfisch '10
Students in Dr. Hall’s Economics and Entrepreneurship class welcomed Christian Braunfisch ‘10 as a virtual guest speaker on September 28 to discuss the topic of private and equity investing. Christian works in London-based private equity firm General Atlantic, where he is primarily focused on technology investments in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. From TikTok to Tesla, Christian discussed how companies use financing in concert with their main goals, including equity versus debt financing. While touching on healthy investing in comparison to concerning investing, he was able to give a window into the research that is provided about companies.
“It was special to have an ECS alumnus speak to a current group of students. Christian brought a special connection with the students that I know they could not have had with a different speaker. It was also great to have the students see that Christian was succeeding in a job that did not exist when he was a student in my history classes," said Dr. Hall.
Christian shared, “I am always glad to give back to Episcopal Collegiate, and I thought this year may present a unique opportunity to help out or get connected for one of the virtual class sessions.”
Christian is a member of Episcopal Collegiate School’s seventh graduating class, the Class of 2010. While a student at Episcopal, Christian served on Honor Council (President) and ECTV Staff, played Varsity Soccer, and was a Summer Science Fellow. He continued his education at Vanderbilt University ‘14, earning a B.A. in Math and Economics. He is currently a Senior Associate at General Atlantic and focuses on investments in the EMEA region. Prior to joining General Atlantic in 2018, Christian was an Associate at Centerview Partners.
