This is an incredibly exciting time for Episcopal Collegiate School. Over the past 25 years, Episcopal Collegiate has become a source of pride in Little Rock and one of the landmark institutions of this city. The meteoric rise of our school reflects the dedication of parents, students, faculty, staff, and community leaders that sought to establish a first-in-class educational experience with a commitment to academic and personal excellence, integrity, and service to others. These same constituent groups devoted countless hours, generous resources, and even more heart, to envisioning just how far we can go. In this strategic plan we hold an equally bold vision for our future.
BACKGROUND & CONTEXT
During the 2021-22 academic year, Episcopal Collegiate School launched a comprehensive strategic planning process. The strategic plan was developed to provide a long-range view of future school priorities created through a highly inclusive and participatory process. The planning process was completed in October 2022, when the Board of Trustees voted to approve the strategic plan presented by the steering committee and their design teams.
Our path forward leverages our strengths and core values, and remains true to our mission. As a center of learning with an Episcopal identity, we welcome members from all faiths and backgrounds, fostering community through the lens of our unifying motto: Respect, Reverence, and Responsibility. These principles are at the forefront of everything we do, with the goal of guiding students toward the kind of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and leadership that will enrich their lives and the lives of others.
Our physical plant and location are prime for facilitating partnerships, programs and experiential learning opportunities that enhance student agency and add authenticity and relevance to our curriculum. Furthermore, we recognize that in order to best meet the needs of current and future students we must attend to the coherence, alignment, and balance of our overall program.
The strategic initiatives embedded in this plan are bold and comprehensive. They address development of an academic program that honors our traditional liberal arts foundation, supports the needs of diverse learners, and challenges students to apply learned knowledge through project-based learning and design thinking. They acknowledge the importance of maintaining vibrant athletic, fine arts, and co-curricular opportunities that complement the academic program. They also promote long-term institutional stability by addressing areas of enrollment management, alumni engagement, campus master planning, and philanthropic support. The strategic initiatives and associated action items are designed for implementation over a five year period and are outlined in the strategic plan provided below.
