Building Connections through Advisory
Our Middle and Upper School advisory programs offer students the chance to build meaningful connections with peers and faculty advisors. In small, thoughtfully assigned groups, students engage in productive morning meetings to review tasks, discuss assignments, and address school-wide topics. These gatherings foster collaboration and provide a direct line of communication for parents to stay connected with both the school and their child’s progress.

Middle School Advisory
Advisors in the Episcopal Collegiate MS typically advise 10-12 students in single-gender, grade-level groups. Advisors serve as the check-in/touchpoint for MS student three mornings per week, and students meet with their advisor to work on a specific advisory curriculum put together by the MS/US school counselor each Thursday afternoon during Activity Time, which is an approximately 25 minute period following middle school lunch and recess. In an effort to create an environment of safety and belonging, each MS student is assigned an advisory - a small group of grade level peers with a faculty advisor who serves as their trusted adult, mentor, and advocate. In addition to helping students advocare for themselves, advisors work closely with parents, communicating feedback and offering personal and academic guidance. Advisory groups meet regularly, partaking in developmentally appropriate curriculum and team building activities to help students find their place in the community.
Upper School Advisory
Our US advisory program provides our students an opportunity to develop a deep connection with a faculty advisor and a peer group. Students are thoughtfully placed into small groups of 8-12 students of mixed grades and genders. Advisories meet for the first 15 minutes each school day, with one additional 30 minute afternoon meeting. This time provides an opportunity for students to have a place of comfort, connection, and fun. It also serves as a time where additional programming related to social emotional learning, character building, college counseling, or other fun projects occur.
