Our choir program offers students at every level the opportunity to develop their vocal talents, expand their musical knowledge, and perform in a variety of settings.

Lower School
Music is an integral part of children's education at Episcopal Collegiate Lower School. We strive to provide a foundation in music education for all students that is engaging and fosters an ongoing appreciation throughout the elementary school years and beyond. Through Wildcat Chorale, children learn the language of music through elements based on the Feierabend approach, active movement, and various songs and instrumental pieces from many cultures.
Middle School
The Episcopal Collegiate Chorus provides students an opportunity to apply musical knowledge and to improve sight-reading ability through daily rehearsal. Students will gain a better understanding of the proper technique needed to extend range and improve tone quality. Competitive opportunities are also made available through this course. Chorus members perform studied literature at a variety of venues, including chapel, evening concerts, competitions, and special events. The Sixth grade choir requires no previous musical experience. Students focus on music making, exploring the fundamentals of various styles of singing, and learning the vocabulary and notation of written music. Beginning choir offers students a chance to sing for the first time or give those who have sung before an opportunity to build on prior experiences.
Upper School
The choral music program in the Upper School seeks to promote the growth of students from a wide range of musical backgrounds and abilities. The Concert Choir (Upper School) is the premiere vocal ensemble at Episcopal Collegiate. Theoretical and historical musical knowledge is extended through this course as students rehearse and perform literature from various cultures and stylistic periods. The ongoing development of proper singing technique and music reading skills are practiced daily in rehearsal. Concert Choir members perform studied literature regularly in chapel, concerts, and special events. Competitive opportunities are made available through this course in the form of All-Region and All-State Choir as well as Choral Performance Assessments, sponsored by the Arkansas Athletic Association.
Concert Choir
The Episcopal Collegiate Concert Choir performs regularly on campus, in the local community, and has traveled internationally. Since 2002, the Concert Choir has performed:
- At the Arkansas Governor's Mansion with Philander Smith College
- Heifer International Gala in celebration of Heifer's 50th anniversary
- Arkansas State Capitol
- Robinson Auditorium with Della Reese
- Presidential visit of George W. Bush in November 2003
The Concert Choir has performed in a number of beautiful and prestigious churches and cathedrals in the United States and Italy, including venues such as Trinity Church on Wall Street in Manhattan and in the St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy.
