Class Day Ceremony & Baccalaureate Update
Each spring, we strive to minimize conflicts between the School’s culminating celebrations and the schedules for AP exams and postseason athletics. While most events can be planned well in advance, the timing of state tournaments, set by the Arkansas Athletics Association (AAA), is outside of our control. Even so, we remain committed to ensuring that as many students as possible have the opportunity to participate fully in these important traditions.
Due to projected postseason conflicts involving our boys and girls varsity soccer teams, we will make the following adjustments:
- Class Day will now be held on Friday, May 16, at 8:30 a.m. in the Championship Gym. This will be a combined Class Day ceremony for Middle and Upper Schools.
- Baccalaureate will now take place on Friday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Cathedral.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work to honor our seniors in the most inclusive and meaningful way possible.
Lower School
A Note from Mrs. Schuhmacher
Next week is a big one! We’re kicking things off with our 5th Grade Recognition on Tuesday, followed by Field Day on Wednesday—two exciting events to close out an incredible year.
We’re still looking for a few more parent volunteers to help make Field Day a success. If you’re available, please check out the info below and sign up!
As we head into the final week, I want to thank you for your partnership and support this year. It’s been amazing to watch our students grow—academically, socially, and emotionally. They’ve worked hard, faced challenges head-on, and made memories that will last a long time. I hope everyone enjoys their well-deserved summer break!
Have a wonderful weekend! And, see you next week!
Sincerely,
Catherine Schuhmacher
Head of Lower School
Attention 5th Grade Parents!
Our 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 20 at 1:30pm in the gym. Students should wear Dress Uniform for this ceremony. Following the ceremony, 4th grade parents will host a brief reception in the cafeteria. We hope to see you at this special event when we celebrate our 5th grade students!
Field Day is Wednesday, May 21!
It’s one of the most exciting days of the year, and we can't wait to celebrate with our students!
Important Reminders for Parents:
- Please apply sunscreen at home before school.
- Send your child with a towel or a change of clothes—they’ll be going down the slip-n-slide!
- Parents are welcome to join their child’s class out on the field during Field Day activities.
Grade-Level Field Day Times:
- PreK 3 – 1st Grade: 8:15–9:30 AM
- 2nd – 5th Grade: 9:45–11:45 AM
We Need Your Help!
Field Day can’t happen without our amazing volunteers. If you’re available, please consider signing up for a volunteer shift here. We ask that volunteers don’t bring siblings since we want to make sure volunteers are supervising our students throughout each activity.
Let’s make this the best Field Day yet!
Chapel News
In Godly Play this week, we talked about our last story of the year - The Mystery of Pentecost.
Next week in Godly Play, we’ll finish Godly Play classes with some reflection on this year’s stories.

A Note from Dr. McCormick
Dear Middle School Families,
This week we cleaned out lockers, did some final, in-class semester exam preparation, and took our English semester exams. Tomorrow, Friday, is a Dress Uniform day and we will be conferring awards on our students in the various grades, 6-12, at MS/US Class Day. Students may depart after Class Day or they may visit with a teacher or teachers for extra help or to do exam prep following the Class Day program until 12 noon, when teachers are free to depart for the weekend. Yesterday during Chapel, we gave our eighth grade students their certificates of completion of eighth grade, and we were treated to words of inspiration from eighth grader Leighton Sloan Leath and physical science teacher and coach, Dr. Hayden Dunn.
On behalf of the middle school faculty and staff, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our families for sharing their children with us this academic year!
Have a nice summer.
Chuck McCormick
